The Average Joe is the epitome of the small wave groveler. It is short fat and thick. It definitely does the job if what you want is a small wave catching beast that you can throw around and have fun. For me, though, it was a little too "corky" for my tastes. The new school "skatey" type of surfboard feels a little to superficial to me. If you love riding skateboards and making a bunch of noise clickity clacking off of curbs and hand rails, you will like this board. But if you are an old school surfer who likes deep rail carves, this board won't be as fun. I took this board out and I was able to crank some fun cutbacks and off the lips, but all in all I say this board is just OK. I rate it as a "pretty cool" surfboard.
